Now you know how to hold your shear. It's now time to master how to hold your shear and comb in one hand.
It's not difficult and is much the same as holding your shear in one hand. Simply transfer your comb between one and the other hand. For the best control, use one hand to comb your hair.
Next, control the comb with your index finger. After you have straightened your hair, you can move the comb to the opposite hand. The scissors can now be used for cutting the hair.
Always keep your comb in the same hand as you are transferring it from one side to another.
To avoid accidentally cutting yourself, the blade of your scissors should be kept closed. We all know how sharp a scissors blade can be. We don't want our fingers to be cut.
To begin a scissor over-comb haircut, you will need to have damp hair. You can then begin shaping your bottom hair with the scissor over comb technique.
This will let you see your entire head.
Holding the comb in your dominant handed will allow you to lift one hair at once. You will hold the scissors in your dominant hand. The blade should be held parallel to the comb.
It is crucial to keep the scissors blade moving as you cut each section. This will ensure smooth, consistent cuts. If you are making a shorter style, don't touch your comb. The top blade of the scissors will do the majority of the cutting, while you hold the bottom blade in your hand.
You can use the first section as a guideline for the next sections after it is cut. You will need to lift your hair from the previous section in order to determine the length. To ensure consistency, your comb should be held at the same angle as your scalp. As you work, you can lift each section either vertically or diagonally.
Properly holding and using your scissors will improve the quality and safety of your work. Scroll to find the cutting technique that will make your life easier.
Start by holding the scissor in a balanced posture, as shown in this image.
If your thumb is extended, it should not touch the moving blade. Bend your thumbs at their base to show that your thumbs are lower than your fingers.
Instead, stick your thumb in a moving blade to create tension. This will restrict your movement and encourage 'chomping.
